Cookies Statement

Legal Copy Services (dba LCS Record Retrieval) uses cookies to improve the functionality of our website and to enable us to better understand how you use our services. A cookie is a tiny text document, which usually includes anonymous information about the user.  You can set your browser to not accept LCS cookies, but you might not be able to access all aspects of the sites.

The list below describes the cookies we use on LCS sites where data is or may be collected. Any other cookies we use do not collect personal information or user behavior data.

LCS Cookies are cookies that are set by LCS sites directly. LCS uses cookies for as long as they are needed for your experience, and then are discarded. We use cookies in a variety of different ways, including:

Site Performance Cookies:

This type of cookie remembers your preferences for tools found on LCS Sites, so you don’t have to re-set them each time you visit. For example, our servers may automatically record, and we may collect, information that your computer’s browser sends whenever you our sites. These server logs may include information such as the home used; database or profiles accessed; searches performed; portions of site visited; web request(s); Internet Protocol address; research history; keyword searched; materials accessed, downloaded or printed; usage information; browser type; browser language; the date and time of your request(s); and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your computer’s browser. Our servers do not record or recognize names or email addresses of the user.

Anonymous Analytics Cookies:

Every time a user visits one of our sites, web analytics software provided by a third party generates an anonymous analytics cookie. These cookies can tell us whether or not you have visited the site before. Your browser will tell us if you have these cookies, and if you don’t, we generate new ones. This allows us to track how many individual unique users we have, and how often they visit the site, which in turn allows us to adjust content and delivery methods, if needed. These cookies cannot be used to identify individuals; they are used for statistical purposes only.

Geotargeting Cookies:

These cookies determine the country from which you are accessing our content. This cookie is global in nature, anonymous, and is only used to help provide the appropriate content pursuant to which you are accessing the LCS sites.

Registration and Session Cookies:

When you register with one of the LCS sites, we generate cookies that signal whether you are signed in or not, since your credentials are required in order to view various content. Our servers use these cookies to work out which account you are signed in with, and if you are allowed access to a particular service. Your session cookie will expire when you sign out of your account, after a defined time of inactivity, or shut down your computer. While you are signed in, we use information from both your registration and session cookies with analytics cookies, described below.

Registration and Session cookies store your credentials so that you may access LCS sites without having to re-enter authenticating information each time you move through our site or access our services, or to enable you to see, track, and/or store your log in information, previous searches and/or research sessions, databases accessed, and other information.

Third Party Cookies:

Third party cookies are set on your machine by external websites in connection with services that are used on the LCS sites.  Cookies of this type include the sharing buttons across the site that allow visitors to share content onto social networks. In order to implement these buttons, and connect them to the relevant social networks and external sites, there are scripts from domains outside of the site. You should be aware that these sites are likely to be collecting information about what you are doing all around the internet, including on LCS sites. You should check the respective policies of each of these sites if you wish to learn how these sites use your information.

LCS sites use Google Analytics tools to collect information about use of our sites. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit the  sites, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve the Sites. We do not nor do we permit Google to combine the information collected through Google Analytics with personally identifiable information.

Although Google Analytics uses a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie is specific to Legal Copy Services Sites and cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to Legal Copy Services Sites is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to this site by disabling cookies on your browser or installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Plug-In.
